Delight Choker This pretty choker looks
complicated, but in fact, it is very simple to make. We used our
glass pearls, Czech crystals and Japanese seed beads to create this dainty
necklace. The length can be changed as indicated in the directions,
and it can also be shortened to a bracelet length.
Set up the closure for the clasp: Step 1. String 7 Seed
Beads (alternating colors), one 4mm crystal, 7 Seed Beads (alternating
colors), one 4mm Crystal. Move these beads to the center of the line, so
that there are two strands of thread. This sets up your work to use the
Illusion cord on both ends (like a two-needle approach).
Step 2. Take
one end of the Cord and string it through the last Crystal and pull up
tight. This should create a circle of beads with thread coming out of each
side of the crystal.
Step 3. Repeat Steps
1 (without centering the beads) and 2, two more times.
Step 4. At this point
you will again have one strand of Cord coming out of each side of the Crystal.
On each side of the Crystal, string 7 Seed Beads (alternating colors).
Now take both lines and string them through a 4mm crystal.
Step 5. Placing both
lines together and using it as one, string 20 Seed Beads (alternating colors),
one 6mm Crystal, 20 Seed Beads (alternating colors), and one 4mm Crystal.
Weaving the Choker: You now have two lines coming from the crystal which will once again
be used separately. This part of the choker measures 9 ¾ inches.
To change this center length, either add or subtract sections. Each
section (Step 1) measures ½ inch.
Step 1. You will be
alternating colors of seed beads as you go. Add 1 Seed Bead, one
4mm Crystal, 1 Seed Bead and 1 Raspberry Pearl to one line.
Add 1 Seed Bead, one 4 mm Crystal, and 1 Seed Bead to the other line.
Take one end of the cord and string it through the Glass Pearl. Pull
it tight.
Step 2. Repeat
Step 1, twenty-seven more times, alternating Raspberry Pearls with the
Pink Pearls.
Step 3. String 1 Seed
Bead, one 4 mm Crystal, 1 Seed Bead to one line. String 1 Seed Bead,
one 4mm Crystal, and 1 Seed Bead to the other line. Now take both lines
and string them through a 4mm Crystal.
Step 4. Placing both lines
together and using it as one, string 20 Seed Beads , (alternating colors),
1 6mm Crystal, 20 Seed Beads, (alternating colors) , one 4mm Crystal and
one 8mm Crystal and 1 Seed Bead.
Step 5. Take both
lines of cord and weave them back down through the beads until you reach
the choker section. Now take one line on either side of the choker
section and weave it through the beads. When you reach the Pearls,
crisscross the lines. Keep weaving until the thread is gone. Finished!
